"It tells the American

story in a style which is

non-confrontational but

rather points to the good

The Stand Up America community

Coast to coast, Stand Up America's "There are only three colors in America" theme has rekindled the spirit of unity and understanding amongst the nation's diverse ethnic population. Many have called the song "an American contemporary national anthem."

This is the children's story. When I wrote the song Stand Up America, I was inspired in part by my children and my concern for the sort of world they would inherit as adults. I often say at the end of my concerts and just prior to performing the song, that, as adults, we are merely the custodians charged with the responsibility of ensuring that there will be a better world hopefully free from the conflicts of war and increased pollution for them to have as a foundation to build on.  So, I decided, instead of me telling their story, why not have them share their opinions and point of view. In my travels with the Stand Up America "One World" Goodwill Tour I have asked the children to share their perspective. In Florida 650 elementary school children from the Curlew Creek elementary school in Pinellas County performed the song at their school's unity day rally. Not only did they sing the song, they also used sign language for the hearing impaired. The top photo of the flag waving was taken at the rally. In New York city at Shea Stadium 212 school children from the tri-city area performed to honor our men and women of the armed forces wounded in combat from WW11 to the present wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The photo at the bottom was taken during the recording session of the song which featured the "one World all children chorus, ranging in ages from 8 years old to 13. Please be sure to contact us and share your comments on their Stand Up America One World Goodwill Tour video.

At left is a photo taken circa 1917 at camp Dodge in Des Moines, Iowa of 18,000 officers and enlisted men forming the image of the Statue Of Liberty. I found it quite moving as an example of what can be done when people work closely together for a common cause which inspires them to show their unity.
