Dara
A precious, blessed miracle come true
Sometimes in life, the miracle we pray for is not the miracle we receive. Sometimes it's better! This description fits perfectly when describing Dara, a young lady born with cerebral palsy. From the moment I met her my life was forever changed. I learned from her how to view the world with a renewed, unbound hope for peace, love and understanding among all people. I have since discovered that I am not the only person who has been touched by Dara in this manner.

Dara - how does one describe her? Dara is a ray of sunshine, a beacon of
light. She brings light to any place she comes in. Her laughter is
contagious. I don't believe she has ever met a stranger - she makes friends
with everyone she meets. She has a keen sense of discernment, which makes
her sensitive to people's needs, moods and desires. Dara reflects true
beauty - not only physical, but, mostly, spiritual. She is always ready to
pray - for you and with you. Jesus is the focus of her life. Her cute
smile, her big bright eyes, are so warm and welcoming. We cannot imagine a
holiday or special day without her being a part of it. She is family, she
gives and receives love so openly. Yes, we love Dara and are so proud to be
loved by her. God bless you, Dara, and may He continue to use you to spread
His love to everyone you meet.

Sometimes in life, you’re lucky enough to meet people whose impact is
everlasting. Dara Roberts has been such a person in the lives of each
member of our family. At first, she was just a neighbor in a quiet
townhouse community. Our family was just starting out with a 2-year old
daughter and a second one to come a year or so later when our families
met and became friendly.
Dara’s laugh is contagious, her depth of feeling, one of her strongest
characteristics, and her intelligence, always evident. Her inner
strength is commanding. She has taught our children some valuable
lessons about life that we could never have taught them alone. She is a
very giving friend.
The notion that children’s play requires physical activity, whether
riding bikes or practicing for dance recitals is limiting. My kids can
sit with Dara for hours and never show a need to find open space to run
and play. Spending time with Dara always strengthens the bonds of
friendship in very meaningful ways. Though both families have moved
away to new homes, time and distance will not impact this life-long
relationship. It’s our honor and pleasure to know Dara.

I have had the great pleasure of taking care of Dara since 1993 when she
was just three years of age. In spite of having significant involvement
of
her arms and legs and going through multiple surgeries, some of which
were very complicated and required big body casts, Dara has always
maintained a sense of great curiosity, and the ability to enjoy life
around
her. She is an extremely bright young person who, perhaps more than
most, appreciates people and understands love. In spite of her own
problems, she is always concerned about the feelings of others. Indeed,
Dara is a very special young lady.

Dara smiles, she likes the sound of laughter
way down deep within her soul she knows that love,
joy and peace are all that matters
Loving hands, angels on earth to guide her
like a flower she unfolds before the world
for all to see and share her magic
Dara,
You are sunlight in the morning
a ray of hope that shines the whole day through
Dara,
I know you will go the distance
there’s no limit on the things that you will do
you‘re the light in all our world
a very special girl
a precious, blessed miracle come true
Dara smiles, and looks forward to tomorrow
so amazed at each new thing she comes to learn
about herself and the world around her
In her heart, she’s soaring like an eagle
to a place where there’s no pain, no fear, just hope
a peaceful world where love surrounds her
Oh Dara, you are sunlight in the morning
a ray of hope that shines the whole day through
Dara, I know you will go the distance
There’s no limit on the things that you will do
You‘re the light in our world
a very special girl
a precious, blessed miracle come true
though I wrote these words and set the melody to music
each note and thought came from the power of your spirit
and for all the joy you bring, for you, that’s why I sing
Oh Dara, you are sunlight in the morning
a ray of hope that shines the whole day through
Dara, I know you will go the distance
There’s no limit on the things that you will do
you‘re the light in our world
a very special girl
a precious, blessed miracle come true...
...a very special miracle, that’s you
